After sharing my Tulum photos on Instagram I received SO many questions about my swimwear which is why I’ve put together a vacation swimsuit roundup! I’m sharing where they’re from and the sizing just incase you want to purchase.
I don’t know if this has anything to do with being born in July and being a cancer, but ever since I was little I’ve always been a water baby. I would spend hours in the ocean or at the beach- one time I was in the pool so long that I got a chlorine burn. I know, I was hardcore. Needless to say I absolutely love swimsuits and find myself picking out a new one every year.
I guess you can say I have a few, and today I’m sharing my vacation favourites…
Classic Triangle Bikini
This has been my go-to bikini forever! I love a classic bikini because lets face it, minimal tan lines. Usually I go for a loud neon colour but this year I am loving the neutrals. This rose two-piece from H&M was a bargain with the top and bottoms being only $5.99 each! I have to admit the quality isn’t out of this world but for $12.00 it’s definitely an affordable and cute option for the summer.
I’m typically a size 2 at H&M but I always size up in their swim bottoms. I don’t know about you but I find they fit small and can be kind of cheeky!
Off The Shoulder
This style is new for me but after wearing it on a day at the beach it’s safe to say I’m obsessed! The bold colour-block pattern is what originally caught my eye, but it’s the off the shoulder cut that sold me on it. My only complaint would be the nasty tan lines.
Pro tip- if you want to try a suit like this one, wear it towards the end of your trip when your tan is set in a bit more so you aren’t walking around with arm bands.
As far as the sizing goes I would say it fit true to size. Simons actually had a variety of pieces in this collection that you could mix and match but I found all the bottoms fit really weird. The only ones that fit me properly were the standard bikini bottoms so I snagged them. They’re also reversible so it was kind of a two in one!
Printed One Piece
I really stepped out of my swimsuit comfort zone this year with an off the shoulder style and now a one piece! I actually haven’t worn a one piece since I was little and now that I have I kinda regret not giving them a second chance sooner! First of all, they’re really figure flattering and secondly, they’re comfortable. Who knew!?
I received this palm printed number from Goodnight Macaroon and found it fit true to size. This one piece is a little cheeky so if that’s not your style I would suggest going up a size for a little extra coverage.
Mix & Match
I used to insist that my top and bottoms always match but looking back that seems so boring! I’m all about mixing and matching my suits because not only is it fun but it expands your swim closet with all the different combinations.
The palm printed bottoms were actually from a set I received online from SheIn but unfortunately the top was way too big for me. Instead of adding the suit to my donate pile I set out on a hunt for a new bikini top! I had a pastel pink top in mind but didn’t think I’d actually find one until I walked into Garage on a last ditch effort. Luckily I did because they had SO many great bikini’s and I found the cutest pink lace up one that went perfectly with my palm printed bottoms.
The bottoms from SheIn fit true to size but as I mentioned before the top was on the larger side. I would say the new top I purchased from Garage does run a little on the small side so if you’re on the chesty side I would probably size up.
Which swim look was your fave??
I’d love to hear if you have any favourite styles or swim brands this year!? We’re off to Chicago at the end of the month and I’m looking to find a new suit to take with me so any recommendations are always welcome.
