If you’ve been following me on social media then you would know that Josh and I took a trip to Toronto back in September. We travelled a lot over the summer but this trip stood out not only because of the memories that were made but because of the purpose of our trip which I’ll share with you in a little bit!
I feel so lucky to have found a partner that loves travelling as much as me, so naturally, Josh and I were so excited to have had the opportunity to team up with Expedia for TD for this trip. We’ve actually been TD First Class Travel cardholders for years now and their amazing reward system on Expedia for TD is one of the reasons we’ve been able to afford to travel.
Just incase you aren’t familiar Expedia for TD provides the same great Expedia experience while allowing TD First Class Travel cardholders the opportunity to earn more points and redeem at a higher redemption rate. Long story short, the more you book through Expedia the more points you receive and can use to book future trips and experiences!
Not only did we book our Toronto adventure through Expedia for TD, but we also booked our honeymoon in Scotland through the site as well. Our honeymoon was more of an intricate trip with multiple flights, hotels, and even a car rental to book. At first, it seemed little overwhelming but the Expedia site was so user friendly! Another great benefit of being a TD First Class Travel cardholder is that no matter where you’re off to there are no travel blackout dates, seat or airline restrictions, and no expiry of your travel rewards. You also have all travel medical insurance and trip cancellation insurance covered through the card. So in other words, Expedia for TD has got your back!
Now you’re probably wondering why we chose Toronto for our next getaway and the answer might surprise you. For a while now, Josh and I have talked about the potential of moving and Toronto has always been at the back of our minds. I’m constantly looking ahead and wanting to further my career and with Toronto being one of Canada’s top fashion communities it’s definitely been a place we’ve had our eye on. Thanks to Expedia for TD we were able to get a good feel for the city and experience all it had to offer!
TIFF was actually going on the weekend we were there so we had the chance to do some celebrity sighting and you guys…I saw Drake! Dreams really do come true. But other than my Drake moment we had the chance to eat some incredible food and do some sightseeing. If you’re ever in the city, Expedia for TD has some really fun experiences like a Romantic Helicopter Tour that Josh and I will definitely be doing the next time we’re in Toronto.
We were only in the city for 4 days but we definitely made the most of our time there. Here are some of our highlights…
I shared one too many Instagram stories of this place and I’m not even sorry because it was probably the cutest little spot I’ve ever seen! Filled with floral wallpaper, pops of pink and delicious eats, this cafe was an Instagram dream. It does get a little busy so if you’d like to secure your spot be sure to make a reservation and have your camera battery fully charged as a photoshoot will most likely ensue.
After all the rooftop views we got to see in Chicago, we were on the hunt for a great lookout spot in Toronto and this place definitely did not disappoint. With a great view of the CN tower and the city skyline it was a perfect spot to take in the city and capture some great shots at the same time.
Our first night there we were craving tacos and La Carnita came highly recommended for some yummy Mexican food. We checked out the location on John St. which I would highly suggest as the atmosphere in that area was a lot of fun. We tried out the Mexican Street Corn, Scorpion Wings (which were fall off the bone tender btw), and a variety of tacos which were all amazing!
If ice cream is your thing, and I don’t know how it wouldn’t be!? You definitely have to grab a cone from Sweet Jesus which was actually in the same building. There are so many sweet treats to choose from that I don’t think you can really go wrong. Side note, they’re also very instagram worthy so don’t forget to grab a selfie with one!
PS- if you’re in YEG I just heard that Sweet Jesus is coming to Southgate and West Ed very soon! This is both good and bad because it’s so delish but I think I also just gained 10lbs from all the future cones I’m about to eat, so there’s that. #worthit
This place was a bit of a hike from our hotel, which was right downtown but luckily we had a meeting in the area and had a chance to check it out! It’s completely pink and filled with the most beautiful plants and succulents. My only wish is that it was here in Edmonton as there were so many plants I wanted to take home with me.
Thank you so much to Expedia for TD for giving us the opportunity to visit Toronto and get a great feel for the city. I’m sure you’re all wondering what our verdict is when it comes to moving and I have to admit that the jury is still out! We haven’t made any final decisions but getting to explore Toronto and seeing what the city has to offer was the step in the right direction. I think at the end of the day travelling in general is just a great way to widen your perspective which was definitely something we were able to gain from this trip. All I can say is, hopefully we’ll be back soon!
What do you love about travelling??
